There is record of Eleazer Bell, Esq, mariner, marriage to Miss Mary Causey on 27 Jan 1805 in Effingham County. According to later census, Mary Causey was born in So. Carolina. From her age of 69 or 70 at death in 1857 one concludes she was born 1787/88 which means she was 17 or 18 at marriage. Since Eleazer Bell had a child born in 1801, he must have been married previously. I've found on obit or death record to indicate her name. The following are Land transactions which indicate he and Jesse Bell were neighbors and had some kind of relationship. Eleazer Bell To Joseph Holyday, Both Of Effingham County date March 19,1798, for 300 acres granted William Denmark June 2, 1791, lying opposite the flat ford on "the great Road on north side of Great Ogeehee River and including the plantation where said Denmark formerly lived", Also 200 acres granted to Reading Denmark Jan 21, 1796: Also 150 acres granted same man, same date, adjoining William Denmark, Jesse Bell and s.e. by Reading Denmark. Jan 21, 1796, lying on the Great Ogeechee River: Also 190 acres granted said William Denmark Jan. 24, 1791 for 200 acres, being in all 947 acres in one body and deeded by Reading Denmark to above Bell, Nov. 24 1796. witness: John Moore and Stephen Denmark J.P. page 48 Reading Denmark to Eleazer BELL, both of Eff. Co,. Deed dated Nov. 24, 1796, conveying the above lands. to: Wm. Denmark, Jesse Bell, J.P. Another transaction on page 82-September 1, 1800 Deed between Joseph Holiday, planter names mentioned Milner Holiday, Redding Denmark, Eleazer Bell, Hohn Moore and Ferney Holliday. page 84-Eleazer Bell served as J.P. on Dec. 1, 1804 page 162-Eleazer Bell, Esq. appeared on a list of marriages, His dated 1-27-1805 to Miss Mary Causey page 180 1805 land lottery PB Belle, Jesse PB Bell, Eleazer Also on page 51 (original record page 154) Jesse Bell and wife Ann, to David Reisser -land transaction. Eleazer and Dr. Jesse Bell both applied and received Passports to cross Creek Lands on the same date, Monday 26 March 1810. Eleazer Bell shows up later that same year, 1810 in Amite Co., MS, but I have not located Dr. Jesse Bell, although I've heard West Feleciana Parish, Louisiana mentioned. I have searched for over 25 years to learn where Eleazer Bell and Mary Causey came from and who their earlier families were without success. ANY clues or help will be appreciated. Will be glad to share what I have on their descendants.

Looking for information about William G. Lane's parents. He was b. 2/9/1807 in Screven County. William and this James Torrance was sueing an Insel Spence over property belonging to William. I have been trying to trace the names of his parents. He married Lenora Ann Hunter in 1834 and then moved with her family to Lowndes County, Ga. . The story goes that he might have been an ophan and went to live with the Hunters as a young man. I have searched the records on the web for Screven, but can't find anything about his heritage. Hope to learn more about the Lane's that lived in this area. Thanks.
