John S. Hudson, 88, died September 28, 1949. Mr. Hudson was a member of the Cartecay Methodist Church and the Ellijay Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his father J. A. Hudson, who was killed at the age of 28 at the Battle of Resaca in 1864; his mother; his wife, Harriett Elizabeth Tabor Hudson. Surviving are children, E. T., Winnifred and R. G. Hudson and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Judge John S. Hudson, prominent and honored citizen of the county, were held September 30, 1949 at the Cartecay Methodist Church. The Masonic ritual was observed. The services were conducted by Rev. H. D. Helton, pastor, who was assisted by Rev. C. M. Lipham, District Superintendent of Dalton; Dr. H. P. Bell, pastor of the Ellijay Baptist Church, and Rev. C. B. Cochran, pastor of the Ellijay Methodist Church. Burial was in the Cartecay Methodist Church Cemetery.
