| W. K. Reece,
83, died August 28, 1951 in Blue Ridge, GA. A native of Pickens County,
Mr. Reece came to Gilmer County, Ellijay, GA in 1900 and for many years
was prominently identified in business here, conducting a general
mercantile business near the Shippen lumber mill. Mr. Reece operated a
lumber business in connection with his store and for many years was a
large buyer and shipper of lumber, ties, pulpwood and tanbark. Mr. Reece
was active in church, civic and political affairs of Ellijay and Gilmer
county. He was a member of East Ellijay Baptist Church and a member of the
board of deacons. He represented the 41st senatorial district in the State
Senate in 1919 and 1920. He was well known, not only in his home county,
but throughout this North Georgia area and enjoyed the friendship of all
who knew him. Mr. Reece is survived by one son, Mr. A. K. Reece and one
daughter, Mrs. Hayden Dobbs; brother, Allie Reece; sister, Mrs. Ella Moss;
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held August
30, 1951 at the East Ellijay Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar Land
officiating. Interment was in Philadelphia Church Cemetery in Pickens
