On the 7th day of September 1820, Personally appeared in Open court for the county of Wilkinson in said district William Jenkins of said county aged sixty seven years who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the acts of congress of the 18th March 1818, and the first May 1820 that he the said William enlisted for the term of three years on or about the 15th July 1775 in the State of South Carolina in the company commanded by Captain Mason and afterwards by Captain John Blake in the regiment commanded by Colonel Moultrie in the line of the state  of South Carolina on the United States Continental establishment that he continued to serve in said corps until the 15th day of July 1778 as nearly as can now be recollected when he was discharged from said service in Charleston in said state of South caroline; that he was at the battle fought at fort Moultrie on Sullivans Island and that he has no other evidence except this his declaration and furthermore this deponent doth solemnly swear that he was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1815, and that he ?? since that time, by gift, late, or any manner disposed of his property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring himself, within the provisions of an act of ??? entitle an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the Land & Naval service of the United States during the Revolutionary War.  Passed the 18 th day of March 1818 and that he has not ? > any person in ..for him any income other that was is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and by him subscribed that he is by occupation a farmer but not able to pursue it from old age & infirmity that  he has a wife & three children married but not living with him nor in a capacity to afford to contribute to his support and with difficulty their own and that of their families and that he is in such indigent circumstances as to be unable to support himself without the aid of government __be Private or Public Charity - Sworn to declare and subscribed in open court if being a county of record having exclusive jurisdictions in criminal cases & original ?? & appellate jurisdiction in civil case, before his honor Christopher B. Strong one of the Judges of the Superior Court for the county and state aforesaid this 7th September 1820.

I Joseph Delk, Clerk of the Superior Court of said county, do hereby certify that the foregoing oath and the schedule thereto annexed are truly copied from the records of said court and I do further certify that it appears  to be the opinion of the said court that the declarant has no property whatsoever either real of personal and that said schedule is only exhibited for for sake in strict compliance with directions from the war department. In witness whereof I here unto set my hand and affixed my private seal, there ding no appropriate seal of office belonging to said court this 29th january 1820
